Sampson (posteriormente renombrado como Mammoth ) [1]​ fue un caballo de raza Shire, castrado, nacido en 1846 y criado por Thomas Cleaver en Toddington Mills, Bedfordshire, Inglaterra. De acuerdo al Libro Guinness de los Récords (1986), era el caballo más alto jamás registrado; en 1850 medía 219,7 centímetros (7' 21/2") o 21,2½ manos de altura. [1]​ Su peso máximo se estimó en 3360 lb (1524 kg) , lo que lo convierte en el caballo más pesado jamás registrado. [1]​ [2]​
