La compañía tiene su sede en Kitakyushu, Japón, y posee instalaciones de producción en nueve países. El nombre "Toto" es una abreviatura de las dos palabras japonesas que forman su nombre completo, Tōyō Tōki (東洋陶器 Cerámicas Orientales?).
