概要
2021年、BRAVIA COREの名称でソニーのテレビ製品であるブラビア向けにサービスを開始した[1]。このサービスではソニーグループの映画会社であるソニー・ピクチャーズ エンタテインメントの映画が一定期間見放題になる[2]。なお、定額制動画配信サービスとは異なり、契約期間終了後の再契約は不可能であったことから、当初はテレビ購入者の特典サービスとしての側面が強かった[1]。
2021年11月19日、同日発売されたXperia 1 IIIからソニーのスマートフォン製品であるXperiaにも対応した[3]。
2023年10月5日、Sony Pictures Coreの名称でソニーのテレビゲーム機であるPlayStation 4及びPlayStation 5に対応[4]。このプレスリリースにおいて、既存のブラビアやXperia製品のビデオ・オン・デマンドサービスについてもSony Pictures Coreにリブランドすることを明らかにし、2024年4月18日に実施された[4][5][6]。
2025年12月、北米地域（アメリカ・カナダ）において、Amazon Prime Videoの追加チャンネルとして、提供を開始。これにより、ソニー製品以外のデバイスでも利用が可能になったと同時に定額制動画配信サービスに事実上参入したことになった[7]。日本では2026年4月22日から提供を開始した[8]。

- 2025年（令和7年）12月 - Amazon Prime Videoの追加チャンネルとして、提供を開始[6]。
