VcXsrvは、Microsoft Windows上で動作するX Window Systemの実装の一つ。LinuxなどUNIX系OS向けのX11アプリケーションをWindowsデスクトップ上に表示することができるフリーソフトウェアである。

X.orgのGitソースコードに基づいている。Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012でビルドされる。

Linuxサーバー上で動くプログラムをWindowsデスクトップ上で実行しているかのように表示する目的で使用される[2]。とくに、Windows 10に搭載された初期のWSLはGUIを表示する機能を持っていなかったため、組み合わせて使用されることが多かった[3][4][5]。

特徴

複数のウィンドウモード
マルチウィンドウ、フルスクリーン、シングルウィンドウ、ルートレスなどに対応する。
Xサーバ機能
WindowsでLinuxGUIアプリケーションをシームレスに実行し、X11アプリケーションに環境を提供する。
マルチモニター対応
複数のモニターに対応し、Linuxアプリケーションをさまざまな画面に表示できる。
