- 楚 (春秋) （? - 紀元前223年）：春秋時代の強国で、戦国七雄の1つでもある。
- 張楚（紀元前209年）：秦末に陳勝が建てた国。
- 西楚（紀元前206年 - 紀元前202年）：秦が滅びた後に項羽が自ら覇王と称して建てた国。
- 桓楚（403年 - 404年）：東晋末期、桓玄が安帝から簒奪して皇帝を称した際に称した国号。
- 隋末に朱粲が建てた国（615年 - 619年）。
- 隋末に林士弘が建てた国（617年 - 622年）。
- 楚 (十国) （907年 - 951年）：五代十国時代の十国の一つ。
- 楚 (張邦昌) （1127年）：金によって、元北宋の宰相張邦昌を皇帝として建てられた傀儡政権。
- 均産教の教主である鐘相が建てた国（1130年 - 1135年）。
地名
- 地名としての楚は、現在の湖南省・湖北省を指す。湖北省を荊楚、湖南省を湘楚とする。
- 前漢では劉交、後漢では劉英を楚国に封じた。現在の江蘇省徐州市を中心とする地域。呉楚七国の乱の楚はこの地を指す。
- 隋から宋にかけての楚州は、現在の江蘇省淮安市一帯。
