De functionele grammatica is een op de functionalistische taalkunde gebaseerd grammaticamodel. Het is oorspronkelijk in de jaren 70 van de 20e eeuw aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam ontwikkeld door Simon C. Dik en sindsdien diverse malen herzien. De laatste standaardversie is in 1997 in 2 delen uitgegeven[1]. Sindsdien is de theorie omgedoopt tot wat nu bekendstaat als de Functionele Discourse Grammatica. Als model staat de functionele grammatcia haaks op de Systemisch-Functionele Grammatica en op de transformatiegrammatica van Noam Chomsky.
