Jacob Breda Bull (1853–1930) var en norsk forfatter.[5]

Bakgrunn og virke

Jacob Breda Bull er kjent for novellen Vesleblakken, og for andre folkelivsskildringer fra Østerdalen i romaner og fortellinger. Han skrev også historiske romaner, samtidsromaner og lyrikk.

J.B. Bull var sønn av sogneprest Matthias Bull (1815–76) og Henriette Margrethe Breda. Han ble student med haud i mai 1876, og var deretter et års tid lærer ved Nickelsens Pigeskole i Kristiania. I april 1878 grunnla han avisen «Dagen» og levde siden som journalist.

Han ble gift første gang 29. desember 1876 med Gunvor Sophie Rytterager (1843–1882), andre gang 9. januar 1883 med Anna Maria Augusta Bergløf (født i Stockholm 1855). Han var far til dikteren Olaf Bull.

Rendalens gamle prestegård, hvor han vokste opp, er nå Bull-museet, et biografisk og kulturhistorisk museum.
