Bulbitermes (лат.) — род термитов из подсемейства Nasutitermitinae (Termitidae). Юго-Восточная Азия. Известно более 30 видов.

Описание

Представители рода Bulbitermes питаются мертвой древесиной или растительным материалом. Этот род похож на род Hospitalitermes суженной головой за усиками, мандибулами с шиповидными отростками и более чем 12 сегментами усиков у касты солдат. Однако род Bulbitermes отличается от Hospitalitermes сравнительно менее суженной головой за усиками, мандибулами со слегка более короткими шиповидными отростками и задними ногами, не выходящими за пределы брюшка у солдат[1][2][3].

Систематика

Известно более 30 видов[4]. Род был впервые выделен в 1949 году американским энтомологом Альфредом Эмерсоном (1896—1976) для типового вида Termes constrictus Haviland, 1898[5][6]. Входит в состав подсемейства Nasutitermitinae из семейства Высшие термиты (Termitidae). Bulbitermes — третий по величине род (по видовому разнообразию) в подсемействе Nasutitermitinae и эндемичен для Ориентального региона[1].

Распространение

Представители рода Bulbitermes встречается в Юго-Восточной Азии. В индийском регионе (Индия, Бангладеш, Пакистан, Шри-Ланка, Бутан, Непал и Бирма) обитают четыре вида термитов рода Bulbitermes: B. pyriformis Akhtar, 1975 (из Бангладеш), B. prabhae Krishna, 1965 (из Бирмы), B. bulbiceps Maiti & Saha, 2000 (из Ассама, Индия) и B. parapusillus Ahmad, 1965 (из Мегхалаи, Индия)[1].
