Pyemotidae (лат.) — семейство микроскопических клещей из отряда Trombidiformes[2]. Паразиты насекомых, включая пчёл. Имеют медицинское значение, вызывая дерматиты у человека, и как агенты биологического контроля насекомых-вредителей.

Описание

Микроскопического размера клещи, длина тела менее 0,5 мм. Гнатосома субокруглая или овальная. Опистосома физогастрических самок образует шаровидную форму диаметром до 2 мм. Гистеросома вытянутая, цилиндрическая или веретенообразная[3]. Некоторые виды (Pyemotes herfsi и другие) кусают людей и вызывают зерновую чесотку. Космополитический вид Pyemotes tritici встречается на соломе, сене и хранящемся зерне, паразитирует на мелких членистоногих. Он также связан с дерматитом у людей[4].

Взрослые самки Pyemotidae являются паразитами всех стадий развития насекомых с полным превращением, особенно жуков-корковых и насекомых, поедающих запасы продовольствия. Когда самка высасывает гемолимфу хозяина, её задняя опистосома сильно раздувается из-за развивающихся яиц (физогастрическая самка). Яйца вылупляются внутри самки, и взрослые особи являются единственной стадией развития в этом семействе. Сначала появляются взрослые самцы, прокалывают раздутую опистосому своими ротовыми органами и остаются возле отверстия. Самцы спариваются с самками, когда те выходят из тела матери. Спаривание запускает у самок поисковое поведение, после чего они немедленно улетают, чтобы атаковать подходящего хозяина. Род Pyemotes был зарегистрирован как паразитирующий на личинках и куколках пчел[5].

Классификация

Известно около 30 видов. Ранее в широком таксономическом объёме включал около 100 видов и около 20 родов[3][6]. Согласно Линдквисту (1986), это семейство включает три рода, а согласно Кетли (1982) — два рода с 25 видами[5][7][8][9]. Таксон входит в состав надсемейства Pyemotoidea[1].
