Therates (лат.) — род жуков-скакунов из подсемейства Cicindelinae (подтриба Theratina). Юго-Восточная Азия[1].
Распространение
Встречаются в Ориентальной зоогеографической области: от Непала, Индокитая и Тайваня до Индонезии, Филиппин, Новой Гвинеи и Соломоновых островов[1].
Описание
Жуки-скакуны мелкого и среднего размера с крупными глазами, стройным телом и длинными ногами. Длина тела от 5 до 23 мм. Основная окраска варьирует у разных видов от полностью чёрной до различных оттенков синего или чёрного с оранжевыми или жёлтыми отметинами на надкрыльях. Имеют редуцированные ротовые органы, кроме увеличенной верхней губы, покрывающей сверху жвалы. Встречаются во влажных тропических лесах. Личинки одного из видов обнаружена в гнилой древесине[1][2].

Включает около 160 видов. В 1893 году немецкий энтомолог Вальтер Хорн выделил род Therates в монотипическую подтрибу Theratina W. Horn, 1893 в составе трибы Cicindelini[1].
