Xanthidae (лат.) — семейство крабов из надсемейства Xanthoidea.
Многие виды Xanthidae ярко окрашены и являются ядовитыми. Они содержат токсины, не разрушающиеся при кулинарной обработке, и для которых нет антидота[1]. Эти вещества подобны тетродотоксину и сакситоксину иглобрюхих, и выделяется бактерией из рода вибрионы, живущих в симбиозе с крабом, в основном это бактерии Vibrio alginolyticus и Vibrio parahaemolyticus[1].
Классификация
Многие виды, ранее включавшиеся в семейство Xanthidae были перемещены в новые семейства. Несмотря на это, Xanthidae до сих пор самое многочисленное семейство крабов, состоящее из 572 видов из 133 родов, разделённых на 13 подсемейств[2]:
