Till the late 1990s, the baund played a traditional black metal style wi heathen leerical content, but suin chynged tae that o occult an thelemic themes written bi their lead vocalist Nergal an Krzysztof Azarewicz. Wi the 1999 release o Satanica, the baund showed their presence in the blackened daith metal scene, while retainin their awn signature style characterized bi the drum wirk o Inferno, multi-layered vocals an Middle-Eastren influences. Regardless that Behemoth haes been labeled as daith metal, black metal or thrash-influenced, Nergal haes mentioned that he does no like the baund tae be labeled.
