Figure Number Five is the fift full-lenth album released bi the Swedish melodic daith metal baund Soilwork. On this release, the baund introduces mair alternative metal influences intae thair melodic daith metal style.
A few different editions o this album existit upon release. The normal release wi eleiven tracks, as well as a limitit edition release wi a seicont CD o thair 1997 demo. The limitit vinyl version o the album featurs twa discs - this album an Natural Born Chaos, black an the ither a white-colored vinyl. The Japanese version o the album includes ane bonus track, entitled "Bursting Out."
Backgrund
This album markit keyboardist Sven Karlsson's first attempts at sangwritin for the baund. While it is no necessarily interconnectit wi the keybuirdist sangwritin, this album featurs mair uise o the keybuird an lichter melodies. The album is considered a mair commercial soond bi maist fans o Swadish daith metal, but it arguably gies the muisic a broader appeal. Housomeivver, vocalist Björn Strid haes said the album haes guid melodies but lacks in intensitie an coud'e been better componed; mony fans an creetics considered the album "rushed".[2]
Muisic videos wur made for the sangs "Rejection Role" an "Light the Torch." In Flames appeared in the "Rejection Role" video, which featurt the twa baunds bein seemingly hostile towards ilk ither (early in the video, a member o In Flames can be seen hauldin up a sign that says "Sellout" as the baund drives bi Soilwork). On the In Flames video o "Trigger" Soilwork appeared an wur made interchyngeably as a joke tae the fans that aither baund haed ony indifferences wi ilk ither. This wis the last album tae featur Henry Ranta on drums.
