Gatchinsky Destrict (Roushie: Га́тчинский райо́н) is an admeenistrative an municipal destrict (raion) o Leningrad Oblast, Roushie. Its admeenistrative center is the toun o Gatchina (which is no admeenistratively a pairt o the destrict). Destrict's population: 140,210 (2010 Census);[5] 132,010 (2002 Census);[8] 138,022 (1989 Census).[9] Aurie: 2,868.7 square kilometer (1,107.6 sq mi).[4]

History

The destrict wis established in 1927 as Krasnogvardeysky Destrict (Красногварде́йский райо́н), which was renamed Gatchinsky in 1944.[4] In 1953, pairts o abolished Pavlovsky Destrict wur mergit intae Gatchinsky Destrict.[4] In 1963—1965, Lomonosovsky Destrict wis mergit intae Gatchinsky Destrict, while at the same time pairts o Gatchinsky Destrict wur transferred tae Luzhsky Destrict.[4] In 1965, housomeivver, Gatchinsky Destrict wis restored in auld borders.
