Ruza (Roushie: Ру́за) is a toun an the admeenistrative center o Ruzsky Destrict o Moscow Oblast, Roushie, locatit on the Ruza River (a tributar o the Moskva River) 100 kilometer (62 mi) wast o Moscow. Population: 13,516 (2002 Census);[3] 14,643 (1989 Census).[4]

Ruza wis first mentioned in 1339 as a pairt o the Principality o Zvenigorod. It became a pairt o Muscovy in the early 16t century. The toun wis a fortress, which protectit Moscow frae the wast.

In the veelage o Kamenskoye, tae the sooth o Ruza, a fortifeed kirk is preservit frae the early 14t century. It is the auldest extant biggin in Moscow Oblast.
