Tynwald, (English: Tinwald) is a veelage in the historical coonty o Dumfriesshire in Dumfries an Gallowa, Scotland. It lies a bit north o Locharbriggs, ootby o Dumfries. The veelage is near the umwhile RAF Tinwald Downs that is noo the Dumfries Aviation Museum.

Tynwald Kirk

The kirk, built in 1769 on the steid o an earlier kirk, is on the side o Tynwald Hill an veesible fae the A701 road. The Barony and Rectory o Tynwald, afore an efter the Reformation, belangt til the Maxwell faimily that appyntit the vicars an later the meenisters. In 1504 Willelmus Black wis vicar o Tynwald.[1] On 13 Julie 1619 Robert Maxwell wis served heir tae his faither, John Maxwell o "terris de Tynwald" in "Baroniam de Tynwald".[2][3]

Tynwald Mote

In the 15t century the Tynwald Mote wis the "caput" o legal heid o the barony, whaur sasine (possession) wis gien bi the ceremony o haundin the grantee, afore witnesses, a haundfu o yird an stane fae the jead messuage called teh Mote near the church of Tynwald.[4]
