Abyssinia (/æbɪˈsɪniə/;[1] còn được gọi là Abyssinie, Abissinia, Habessinien, hoặc Al-Habash) là một khu vực cổ xưa ở vùng Sừng châu Phi nằm ở vùng cao nguyên phía bắc của Ethiopia và Eritrea ngày nay.[2] Thuật ngữ này được sử dụng rộng rãi như một từ đồng nghĩa quốc tế chính thức của Ethiopia cho đến giữa thế kỷ 20 và chủ yếu để chỉ những cư dân nói tiếng Ethio-Semitic ở vùng cao nguyên Ethiopia và Eritrea.[3][4]
