Funafala adalah sebuah pulau kecil atau islet di Funafuti,[1][2] Tuvalu yang dihuni oleh lima keluarga, dengan sebuah gereja juga terletak di pulau kecil tersebut.[3] Funafala berarti 'pandanus dari Funa', nama seorang kepala suku, yang juga merupakan nama kelompok tersebut Funafuti.[4]

Perang dunia II

Selama Perang Pasifik, mayoritas penduduk Tuvalu yang tinggal di atol Fongafale pindah ke Funafala agar Fongafale dapat dijadikan pangkalan bagi pasukan Amerika yang menduduki sebagian besar pulau kecil Fongafale termasuk membangun lapangan terbang. Rumah sakit dipindahkan ke pulau kecil Funafala selama perang berlangsung.[5]
