Trance adalah jenis musik dansa elektronik yang berkembang pada akhir 1980-an di Britania Raya dan dikembangkan lebih lanjut pada awal 1990-an di Jerman sebelum menyebar ke seluruh Eropa, sebagai cabang dari musik tekno dan house yang lebih merdu.
Musik Trance umumnya memiliki karakteristik tempo antara 125 dan 160 BPM, frasa melodi yang berulang dan berpusat pada penyintesis dan drum bass di setiap ketukan dan melodi. Asal mula istilah ini ambigu, dengan beberapa menyatakan bahwa istilah ini berasal dari album Klaus Schulze Trancefer (1981), atau dari aksi trance pertama Dance 2 Trance. Musik ini sering dimainkan di klub-klub, dan kadang-kadang trance dianggap sebagai bentuk musik klub.
