NGC 7 adalah galaksi spiral berbatang yang terletak di rasi bintang Sculptor. NGC 7 ditemukan oleh astronom Inggris, John Frederick William Herschel pada tanggal 27 September 1834, yang menggunakan teleskop reflektor dengan ukuran 18,7 inci pada saat itu.[6] Astronom Steve Gottlieb menjelaskan galaksi ini dengan galaksi redup, walaupun besar, dan tampak sisi pada perspektif dari Galaksi Bima Sakti. Ia juga mencatat bagaimana galaksi ini hanya dapat diamati jelas dengan penglihatan periferal, tidak dengan melihat langsung galaksi tersebut.[6]
