Animierter Mauszeiger unter Windows Vista

Animierter Cursor[1] ist die Bezeichnung für ein Rastergrafik-Dateiformat (mit der Endung .ani)[2], welches von Microsoft für animierte Mauszeiger (oder auch sogenannte Cursor) auf seinem Windows-Betriebssystem entwickelt wurde.[3]

Das Format basiert auf dem Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF) von Microsoft, welches als Containerformat für eine Vielzahl von Icons oder Cursor genutzt wird, die mit dem ICO-Format übereinstimmen.

Zum Erstellen und Bearbeiten von ANI-Dateien wurde von Microsoft das Open-Source-Programm ANIEDIT.EXE angeboten, welches u. a. in der MSDN-Library vom Oktober 2001 enthalten war.[4][5]
