Die Metailurini sind eine Tribus ausgestorbener Katzen mit wenig verlängerten und leicht abgeflachten oberen Eckzähnen. Sie werden teilweise den Säbelzahnkatzen,[1] mitunter auch den felinen Katzen zugewiesen.[2] Gelegentlich stehen sie auch in der eigenen Unterfamilie der Metailurinae.[3] Metailurine Katzen waren vom Miozän bis ins Pleistozän in Afrika, Eurasien und Nordamerika verbreitet.
