NGC 4583 ist eine linsenförmige Galaxie mit aktivem Galaxienkern vom Hubble-Typ S0/a im Sternbild Jagdhunde am Nordsternhimmel. Sie ist schätzungsweise 310 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt und hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 100.000 Lichtjahren.

Das Objekt wurde am 2. Januar 1786 von deutsch-britischen Astronomen William Herschel entdeckt.[3]

Die Supernova SN 2021aetw wurde hier beobachtet.[4]
