U 240 war ein deutsches U-Boot vom Typ VII C, das im Zweiten Weltkrieg von der deutschen Kriegsmarine eingesetzt wurde.

Technische Daten

Der Auftrag für das Boot wurde am 20. Januar 1941 an die Werft Germaniawerft, Kiel vergeben. Die Kiellegung erfolgte am 14. Mai 1942, der Stapellauf am 18. Februar 1943. Die Indienststellung unter Oberleutnant zur See Günther Link fand schließlich am 3. April 1943 statt.[1]

Geschichte

Das U-Boot gehörte nach seiner Indienststellung am 3. April 1943 bis zum 31. Januar 1944 zur 5. U-Flottille und vom 1. Februar 1944 bis zum 17. Mai 1944 zur 9. U-Flottille.

Verbleib

U 240 wurde ab dem 17. Mai 1944 in der Nordsee vermisst.
