Ya ba

Ya ba (thailändisch ยาบ้า, laotisch ຢາບ້າ, wörtlich Verrückt-Medikament) ist eine Droge, die aus einer Mischung von Methamphetamin und Koffein besteht.[1][2]
Eigenschaften
Ya ba ist ein Stimulans und vereint die Effekte des Methamphetamins mit denen des Koffeins.[3] Es wird meist in Tablettenform mit unterschiedlichen Farben und Prägungen und teilweise auch Aromastoffen[1] mit einem Durchmesser um 6 mm verkauft. Meistens wird Ya ba oral eingenommen. Daneben wird es auf Aluminiumfolie erhitzt und der Rauch inhaliert (wird als den Drachen verfolgen bezeichnet), oder die Tablette wird zerstoßen und geschnupft oder aufgelöst und injiziert.[1] Ya ba wird vor allem von jungen Menschen in Südostasien konsumiert.[4] Koffein ist legal erhältlich, Ya ba fällt aber aufgrund seines Methamphetamin-Anteils unter nationale Drogengesetze (siehe Methamphetamin#Rechtslage). In den Vereinigten Staaten ist es als Schedule II Drug reguliert.[5]
Herstellung
In Myanmar wird der Großteil des in Thailand konsumierten Ya bas hergestellt, insbesondere im Goldenen Dreieck und innerhalb dessen im Shan-Staat.[6] Im Jahr 2010 wurden eine Milliarde Tabletten von Myanmar nach Thailand exportiert.[6] Sowohl Rebellengruppen als auch Militärgruppen sind Produzenten.[6][7]
Andere Namen
In Thailand wurde es zuerst als ya khayan (Harte-Arbeit-Pille), dann als ya maa (Pferdemedizin) und seit 1996 als ya ba (Verrücktpille) bezeichnet.[8] In Nordthailand wird es aufgrund seines an Schokolade erinnernden Geruchs und Geschmacks auch als chocalee bezeichnet.[9] In Malaysia ist pil kuda (Pferdepille) im Sprachgebrauch,[10][11] während in den Philippinen und Indonesien shabú verwendet wird.[12]
