Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo (født 2. juni 1988) er en argentinsk tidligere fotballspiller.[6]

Agüero regnes som en av verdens beste angripere, og ble toppscorer i Premier League sesongen 2014/2015 med 26 mål.

Før sesongen 2015/2016 byttet Agüero draktnummer fra sin ikononiske 16 til 10, etter at Edin Džekos overgang til Roma gjorde at nummeret ble ledig.

Klubbkarriere

Den 5. juli 2003 ble han den yngste spilleren noensinne som debuterte i argentinske Primera Division i en alder av bare 15 år og 35 dager, den tidligere rekorden var satt av Diego Maradona i 1976.

I 2006 gikk han fra argentinske Independiente til spanske Atlético Madrid for 23 millioner euro. Hans 101 mål på 234 kamper, i tillegg til å vinne Europaligaen og Supercupen i 2010, gjorde at han tiltrakk seg oppmerksomheten til flere europeiske storklubber. Han endte til slutt opp i engelske Manchester City i 2011 for en sum rundt 35 millioner euro.

Onsdag 27. juli 2011 signerte han for Manchester City, han blir dermed den dyreste spilleren klubben har kjøpt frem til da.[7]

I hans første kamp for Manchester City mot Swansea City scoret han to mål, og hadde en målgivende pasning.[8] Agüero avgjorde siste serierunde for Manchester City mot Queens Park Rangers på overtid, hvor Manchester City vant 3–2 og dermed serien i 2011/2012-sesongen.

Agüero er toppscorer for Manchester City med 260 mål. Han er den spilleren i Premier Leauge med flest mål for én klubb med sine 184. Han er den spilleren med flest hattrick i Premier Leauge (12). I tillegg er han den som har best målsnitt (antall mål per kamp) for spillere med over 100 kamper.

31. mai 2021 signerte han for Barcelona.[9] Den 15. desember 2021 la han opp som fotballspiller.[6]

Landslagskarriere

I VM for U20-landslag i 2007 scoret Agüero hat-trick i 6-0 kampen mot Panama. Han avgjorde mot Nord-Korea da Argentina vant 1-0. Han scoret på et fantastisk frispark. Argentinas U20-landslag vant turneringen i 2005 og 2007. Til sammen scoret han 10 mål på 12 kamper.

Han debuterte for det argentinske A-landslaget i en vennskapskamp mot Brasil. Kampen ble spilt på Emirates Stadium i London 3. september 2006. Han ble olympisk mester for Argentina under OL i Beijing 2008.

Han ble tatt ut i Argentinas tropp til VM i fotball 2018 i Russland.[10]

Privatliv

Agüero fikk sammen med Giannina Maradona, Diego Maradonas datter, sønnen Benjamin Agüero Maradona 19. februar 2009.[11]
