Sitosol adalah larutan yang padat dengan banyak jenis molekul yang mengisi sebagian besar dari volume sel.[1]

Sitosol (bahasa Inggris: cytosol) adalah komponen sel di dalam sitoplasma yang berupa cairan. Sebagian metabolisme sel terjadi di sini .

Protein dalam sitosol berperan penting dalam jalur transduksi sinyal seluler dan glikolisis.

Sebagian besar sitosol terdiri atas air, ion terlarut, molekul kecil, dan sejumlah besar molekul larut air (seperti protein). Mengandung sekitar 20-30% protein.

pH sitosol manusia yang normal (sekitar) 7 (netral), sedangkan pH cairan ekstrasel 7,4.
