Labay ist ein Verwaltungsbezirk (englisch Ward) des Distrikts Mbulu in der tansanischen Region Manyara.

Geografie

Labay ist ein ländlicher Bezirk im Norden von Tansania. Er liegt rund 40 Kilometer Luftlinie südwestlich der Distrikthauptstadt Mbulu.[2] Bei der Volkszählung 2022 lebten 5919 Menschen in 1055 Haushalten[3] auf einer Fläche von 46 Quadratkilometern.[4]

Der Bezirk grenzt an vier Bezirke des Distrikts Mbulu:[5]

Gliederung

Der Bezirk besteht aus drei Gemeinden (Swahili Mtaa) und 13 Orten (Swahili Kitongoji):[6]

Infrastruktur

  • Bildung: Es gibt eine weiterführende Schule im Bezirk.[7] Die Labay Secondary School ist eine staatliche Schule, die Jugendliche bis zur 4. Stufe ausbildet.[8]
  • Gesundheitseinrichtungen: In der Gemeinde Labay liegt eine privat geführte Ambulanz.[9]
  • Elektrizität, Wasser: Von den 1479 Gebäuden im Bezirk haben 44 Stromanschluss von Tanesco, 427 beziehen Strom aus anderen Quellen wie Solarzellen und Generatoren. In 246 Gebäuden gibt es einen Wasseranschluss (Stand 2022).[10]
  • Gebäudenutzung: Von den 89 Gebäuden, die nicht für Wohnzwecke genutzt werden, gehören 29 religiösen Gemeinschaften, sind 16 öffentliche Gebäude wie Schulen und Gesundheitseinrichtungen, 16 Lagerhäuser, 13 Geschäftslokale, 7 Gewerbebetriebe, 5 Bürogebäude, 2 Hotels und eines ist ein Gästehaus (Stand 2022).[11]
