Kalia heksametafosfato estas neorganika kemia kombinaĵo, senodoraj, senkoloraj aŭ blankaj kristaloj, malmulte solveblaj en akvo, sed ĝia solvebleco dependas de la polimera grado de la salo, ju pli alta des pli viskoza kaj nesolvebla. Solvaĵo de kalia heksametafosfatoj estas alkalaj.

Ordinare ĝi uzatas kiel sekvestranto, tamen ĝi posedas fungicidajn proprecojn. Ĉar la molekulo de heksametafosfato estas granda, ĝi absorbeco per la gastrointesta sistemo estas malrapida. Oni kredas ke kalciaj kompleksoj de heksametafosfatoj disiĝas en la salivo.[1]
